POCUS
Blue Dutch
HOCUS
Magpie Polish Buck
The Bunny Barn all started (like most, I believe) with two pet rabbits I had picked out
for my birthday in December of 2002, and then it became official in 2004 with 10
bunnies for breeding.  The Bunny Barn has grown since then and our numbers continue
to change.  We now raise three different breeds.

Hocus and Pocus were my first two rabbits, and were sold to me as two girls (or I
would not have taken both of them).  Approximately 4 months later I woke to having 9
bunnies instead of two...needless to say, Hocus was a boy!!!  I kept one of the
babies from that first litter and named her Magic.

Hocus & Pocus are pictures above...Magic is now living with a new family since we
began officially breeding, raising full breed rabbits.

I do hope that you'll enjoy browsing this site as much as I have enjoyed building it!
ABOUT LAURA:
I grew up as an animal lover from the moment I first saw one!  As a child, I even
preferred stuffed animals over dolls.  I was a tom-boy at heart and had no fear - in
fact, the bigger the animal, the better!

As a teen, I became involved with horses (my first love) at a Therapeutic Riding
Program for people with disabilities.  Coming home dirty 3-4 days a week was a
regular routine for me and I loved every minute I spent at the barn.

As a young adult, my love for Therapeutic Riding had grown and I became an
certified Instructor.  I taught for around 13 years and finally got my first horse,
Zephyr at the age of 20.  During this time and in addition to teaching Therapeutic
Riding I also became a Special Olympics Equestrian Coach and a 4-H Leader.

It's been a couple of years since I have been involved in the field of Therapeutic
Riding, but since then I have worked at a drug & alcohol rehab for teenagers and
currently work as a Youth Counselor at a girl's group home.  Needless to say, I
enjoy the Human Services field.

In 2002, when I picked out Hocus and Pocus, I wasn't exactly looking to get into
raising rabbits.  They were a total impulse buy.   I was browsing thru a pet store just
to visit the puppies and play with the animals, when I spotted two rabbits in a cage
together - just babies.  I loved the little striped one right away but watching how
they continued to cuddle up together made me feel bad about considering buying
just one.  I liked the other too, and as we sat there together each holding one and
deciding what to do, Chas offered to get them both for me as a birthday present.  So
it was decided...I took them both and on the way home, named them Hocus and
Pocus.  Now, part of that decision making process was that we wouldn't buy them
unless they were both the same sex....so of course, the man in the store tells me
they are both girls, so off I go!  About three months later, I discover Hocus is really a
boy and I separate them...talk about "a day late" - exactly 28 days later, Pocus
delivers a litter.

So in 2004 is when I officially began shopping around and educating myself in the
different breeds and began my breeding adventure.

Now I am hooked!  Although we have begun to show on a very small scale, I have to
say that I never enjoyed the politics that come along with showing - even in the
horse world.  But when I do show, or attend one, it is to help educate myself a little
more on the breeds we have.  Along the way we have made some wonderful
friends and the shows also allow us time to spend with them as well.

I look forward to continuing this adventure for years to come!
